My name is Mikayla Miller and I am the girl behind the lens!
Rather than tell you the story about what made me decide to pursue photography, (which I would completely love to share with you if you would like to know!) I thought I would take the time to explain to you who I am, what I do, and what I hope to give you.
Firstly, I am a short, redheaded, twenty-two year old girl from the super tiny city of Caro, Michigan. I recently got engaged to my high school sweetheart who is currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan. I have a giant puppy named Timber, who is a little slow, but is my best friend nonetheless. I absolutely love creating things, antique shopping, corny jokes, Netflix (strictly comedies - NOTHING that makes me cry), and enjoying the outdoors. The majority of the props and signs that I use that aren't pieces of furniture are most likely made by myself or my super talented and even more creative mother! Pinterest is my best friend, so please don't hesitate to send me any ideas that you may have and I can almost guarantee it's something that can get done!
In regard to my shooting style, I specialize in natural light photography, meaning that I shoot use the natural light around me, avoiding artificial lighting or flash whenever possible. I have consistently become more and more impacted by nature and exploration of the world around me and have worked towards implementing these passions however I can into my photography sessions. I am self-taught, constantly researching, taking part in webinars, and studying other photographers to become a better photographer myself each and every day. I currently shoot with two different Nikon cameras - my primary being a Nikon D750 and my backup being a Nikon D5300. I prefer to be as unobtrusive as possible when taking photographs as I love the emotion and memories that candid photos capture, although I may direct and guide when necessary. I will shoot anything and everything and travel anywhere, whether it be weddings, seniors, newborns, pets, or cars - there's nothing I won't do!
My ultimate hope is to not only be your photographer for a moment or a day, but your friend as well! I really feel as though I cannot simply be the person holding the camera, snapping pictures, asking you to pose a certain way. I want and feel the need to be the person smiling, laughing, and tearing up with you during what can some of your life's most exciting and important milestones. If you feel like we can have that "click", I know that we can create some absolutely wonderful pictures together.
I truly appreciate you for taking the time to learn about me and who I am! With all of my heart, I see even the consideration to be your photographer such a privilege.
Have a beautiful day!
